About Spectra Modern

Spectra Modern is a new collection of furniture designed and developed by Spectra Wood. Spectra Wood is a State College, Pennsylvania company that began as a hobby in the basement workshop of the family home more than thirty-nine years ago. Larry Roeshot and his son, Doug, used basic woodworking tools to make cutting boards, chess boards, turn candleholders and craft other small wooden giftware. The family decided to sell these hand made pieces at the local Pennsylvania Arts Festival, www.arts-festival.com. The hand made wooden giftware was so popular that all the products sold out on the second day of a three-day festival.

Currently, 110 craftspeople in over 100,000 square feet of manufacturing space, produce office furniture for universities, libraries, and businesses as well as home furnishings that are distributed through national retailers and mail order catalogs across the United States and Europe.

As Spectra Wood continues to grow, Spectra Wood continues to invest new equipment and technology as well as seeking education and training programs to help us to continue to improve all aspects of the business while we maintain our reputation of providing quality products as we have for nearly four decades.

Our craftsman are trained on old values that respect quality and durability. They work hard and take genuine pride in personal fulfillment in "doing it the right way." These are the people that smile a confident smile when a customer runs a hand along a newly finished piece. They know the feel of wood to wood joints that are as right as they can be. In fact, each employee has the right to reject any piece that just isn't good enough. Together we create real quality furnishings.
